My Debut Post (with a giveaway opportunity, too!)

Yep. My very first, honest-to-God blog post; not a blog that's actually part of a larger overall social media site, but an independent blog requiring planning and thought.

I'm sure that seems silly to many, and maybe it is a bit; but I have always liked to write, yet have never actually pursued an official blog. Oh, I've tried to keep diary-like entries on blog-like sites, but I was never good at diaries as a teenager and that hasn't changed much as an adult. Plus, I have a tendency to not want to do anything I HAVE to do. Not to mention that I have so many darned things I'm interested in, thinking of a single one on which to base a blog isn't easy. Thus the name of my blog is The Frustrated Foodie.

A friend recently pointed out that I am, in fact, something of a foodie. It is a subject that appears on a regular basis on my Facebook page. I love discovering recipes, I love eating good food (and talking about it), I love kitchen wares (pots, pans, utensils, other gadgetry meant to make food prep easier); yet, I'm not much on cooking. How odd is that?

When I do cook and I enjoy what I've made, I am very proud of my efforts and I show them off to others. Others may not take notice all the time, but that doesn't stop me from posting photos of my efforts. So, if I'm doing that anyway, why not do it here?

Don't think this will solely be about food. I know me well enough to know that I will not always stay on task topically; that I will stray from time to time to other subject areas. But, I think giving myself permission to deviate from the main theme will help me stay on task with the blog. If you don't mind a bit of meandering now and then; little side trips into other areas of thought; then I think we both might have a good time.

Now, for that aforementioned giveaway opportunity - food related, of course!
Fabulous Freezer Meals

Make Ahead Meals for Busy Moms is giving away a copy of the Fabulous Freezer Meals cookbook. The more of her options you choose to do, the more entries you'll have in the drawing for the cookbook. Although I don't know the author, I do know something about the area and culture in which she lives. She's from Tremonton, UT. I lived for years just south of there in Ogden. The predominate culture of Utah relies heavily on food storage, food preparation and family. I might disagree with the politics and religion of the area, but that doesn't take away from the good things that take place there. Their creativity in the kitchen and their tendency towards thrift can go a long way in anyone's kitchen. Therefore, I don't think you can go wrong with this cookbook, whether you win it or buy it.
